As Guitarist Magazine puts it - ‘Undeniably a very fine guitarist capable of playing in a wide variety of styles’ or a recent NODA review 'One of a formidable who’s who of pit musicians in the East Midlands area’. I also teach the guitar in a style that fits in with the style of music you love playing. Richard's Latest work

I am working on 2 new Cd's to follow up 'Starsigns' from which the music on this site is taken.

The first 'Difficult Trees' will be a further collection of my own compositions for steel and nylon strung guitars.

The second, 'One Man Guitar Orchestra' will be a collection of compositions from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic eras arranged for every instrument I possess, each track featuring a selection of my ever-expanding collection.

The pieces will include works by Bach, Vivaldi, Satie and Albeniz amongst others.

Guitar Styles

Classical Guitar: From Renaissance to Present Day. I specialise in the Baroque and Classical eras with my repertoire including Dowland, Bach, Weiss, Sor, Giuliani, Barrios and Albeniz amongst many others.

Electric Guitar: From rock’n’roll to modern day ‘nu-metal’ and all styles in-between. Favourite guitarists from this genre include Schenker, Vai, Rhodes, Satriani and May. Blues, Jazz and Country styles are also catered for.

Acoustic Guitar: Both plectrum picking and fingerstyle are specialities across a wide variety of musical genres. I particularly enjoy Gaelic music and am consequently adept in the folk music of Scotland and Ireland.

Bass Guitar: Whilst this is not my main instrument the same playing techniques apply and I play electric bass in a wide variety of styles.

Banjo, Mandolin and Ukulele: I’ve grouped these folk instruments together as I frequently end up playing them all during the course of an acoustic music evening.
